... and now on with my senior year disscussion.

I'm glad that the embedded slid share worked. Never done that before.

SO... Senior Year.

The first thing that I have to say is that its been tough. There's been so much work and so little time, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Less than a week and I will have graduated... sort of. I'm finishing up my last class this summer. Yep, that's right. One class. How did that work? I have no idea. I'm glad though. This summer will be a nice vacation. I will get to spend my last semester at MTU during the summer. So I think that I will remember school better this way. Less work more play.

Things I loved about my senior year:
  • Meeting lots of new people.
  • Completing of some tough but fun projects.
  • The fact that I can now see how much I have matured since freshman year.
Some of my gripes:
  • Work load, 3 projects, and all equally as tough.
  • How enterprise still has to do senior design (hmm... I'll touch on this in a bit).
Now as much as I love MTU there are some things that bothered me. When I first decided to join enterprise (extracurricular alternative to Senior Design) it was purly and ALTERNATIVE to the senior design class in the mechanical engineering department. A year and a half later they (who I don't really know) changed it so that enterprise was required to take a one semester senior design. This was dissapointing because it required me to complete one more senior level project than expected. Then, recently, they changed it back. I got stuck in the two years of pain. I have completed it though. Pain gone.

SO that is why this summer will be a vacation. Ahhhhhh (sigh of releif).
I hope everyone else gets as much satisfaction from completing school as I have.

The end of my senior year!

Well, I am going to start this one off by posting up my visual resume.
Check it out!

Me and my projects

Hello all,

Well, I thought I would start off by introducing a little about me and my projects:

I'm a senior mechanical engineering student at Michigan Technological University(MTU). I am and Eagle Scout and love to hike, camp, canoe etc., all that outdoor stuff. A couple of years back I purchased my first motorcycle and now ride everyday (weather permitting).

Since I have been in college I have felt that it's important to be involved. Because of this I joined EcoCAR (http://www.enterprise.mtu.edu/challengex/) and Society of Automotive Engineers (http://sae.students.mtu.edu/). I am currently the Controls Team Leader on EcoCAR and the Vice President of the MTU SAE Chapter.

I am currently looking to obtain a job in the nuclear power industry. This may seem weird, being that I am involved in a hybrid vehicle competition (EcoCAR) and SAE, why not Automotive. I think not. The organization that I am involved in I have used as a means to become a better leader and more productive engineer. I have had two internships at nuclear power plants which sparked my interest in the industry.

Thanks for reading and I'll be back with more comments, post, quotes, complaints...
